It was a great party!
The inaugural period of the Lausanne arts district began last June and ended on Sunday 25 September with the closing of the TRAIN ZUG TRENO TREN exhibitions.
Nearly 150,000 visitors came to discover our exhibitions as well as a rich and eclectic programme of events, combining music, cinema, dance, literature and major popular events. From the Festival de la Cité to the Locarno Film Festival, not forgetting the visit of the President of the Confederation for the 1st of August celebration or the Lausanne Museum Night, these meetings with a large and diverse public have made the inauguration of the new arts district of Lausanne a huge success, rich in emotion.
The 3 museums of Plateforme 10 are already hard at work preparing the opening of the next major temporary exhibitions. The mudac will open on 28 October with “A Chair & You”, directed by the internationally renowned scenographer Bob Wilson, and will remain closed to allow for its assembly. The collections of the MCBA and Photo Elysée will remain fully accessible to the public during this period, before the opening of their next major temporary exhibitions in early November.
See you soon on Plateforme 10 and in our museums!

The new Arts District
Plateforme 10 is a one-of-a-kind site in Switzerland bringing together 3 canton-level museums and 2 foundations on a sprawling esplanade of nearly 25,000 square meters just a few steps from Lausanne’s main train station.
Inaugurated in 2019, the new building housing the Musée cantonal des beaux-arts (MCBA) led the way for the exciting adventure that is Plateforme 10. This was followed in 2022 by a new home for two other Lausanne institutions, Photo Elysée and mudac. As an arts district and lively public space right in the heart of Lausanne, Plateforme 10 offers everyone a unique opportunity to discover the diversity and interdisciplinarity of the arts and art making in the fine arts, photography and design.
